4 Tactics to Making the Ultimate Comeback
We’re halfway through year and according to studies, less than 10% are still going strong in pursuit of the goals they outline for themselves.
For the other 90%, you aren’t alone and you are totally capable of making a turn around.
Having made multiple turn arounds myself and coached dozens of industry leaders through their own slumps, here are the top 4 things to do if you want to shift momentum back in your direction!
To keep it simple, remember the acronym PEAK
P - Proactively Plan
Go back to the drawing board. Look at your goals and ask yourself, what activity would move me closer to this result? List out as many activities as you can!
For instance, if I know my goal is to run a half marathon. I need to go for a run at least 3-4x a week.
Also make a list of the headwinds holding you back. Whether it’s life events, excuses you’ll make, or the emotions you hate to feel - write them out so you see them.
Now make a plan for how you’ll handle those obstacles, schedule out activities in your calendar and when you do so, keep those commitments to yourself! You’ll build confidence with every commitment you keep despite what life throws your way!
E - Execute Extra
Og Mandino once wrote, “Do only as little as the others, and the responsibility for failure is yours alone.”
In sales or leadership, it was always those who worked harder that seemed to have even more luck! But it wasn’t necessarily luck, as it was being well conditioned to seize the opportunity .
Most people feel cheated when they give more than expected not keeping in mind that we always get paid for the work we do. That extra mile will never fail you.
In fact, it will set you apart and bring shortens the time for you to feel success… if only you stick with it.
A - Ask + Assess
Humility and curiosity are the hallmarks of exponential growth.
One of the hardest things we can do is face ourselves and do an honest self review, but it’s crucial if you want to grow and get back on track.
Feedback from clients, mentors, friends, and even competitors feels like sandpaper to the ego, but it provides a healthy ego check.
Questions like, “What can I do better to help you hit your goals?” and “What am I not asking or seeing?” will unveil some of the quickest changes to lead us back in the right direction.
K - Keep Killing it!
The growth of my business is directly proportional the health of my soul.
This principle has been reflected both failures as well as the growth seen in my own organization, let alone other company’s leadership.
If there’s one truth that rings true, it is that we must make sure to take care of health; not just physical health - I mean mental, spiritual, or emotional too.
Lewis Howes and Oprah Winfrey have pointed out that our most important mission is to manage our own health, because when we fill our own cups, we’re able to add value of our highest potential. Read uplifting books, exercise your body daily, eat nourishing food, and most importantly, keep your word to yourself.
By implementing any one of these PEAK producer principles, you’ll be well on your way to hitting those goals you set for yourself on the onset of this year. Don’t throw in the towel or just go through the motions. Go for it. I believe you can.
